My Education
I was home-schooled through my highschool career. I was a registered student of Gateway Christian Schools located in Memphis, Tennessee. When I graduated highschool in May 1999 standardized testing had not been computerized. This combined with the fact my physical disability (CP) has prohibited me from being able to yield a pencil made it seemingly impossible for me to enroll in an institution of higher learning. Until I discovered on-line education.
I discovered there are many choices. Most are reputable and are over all a good place to learn. However, if you look long enough you’ll find somebody bad-mouthing each. Mine was no exception.
All I can say is I did the work, got the degrees and even got copies of verification sent to the background investigation agent of a potential employer once I discovered my transcripts had been transferred. That’s good enough in my book.
Copies of my documents are below:
Like anyone else, I’m proud of my accomplishments (especially in light of my personal challenges) and would put my skill, work-ethic and determination up against anyone. I’m good not because a school attests that I have completed or not completed a prescribed curriculum. For me it’s because technology is a living, not a way to make a living.
Understanding technology allows me to offset the complications of my disability. Therefore this is not something I do, It’s something I live. Take my word for it, that’s a true education that nobody can argue with.
